I'm not real computer savvy. The other day I accidentally clicked on something that asked if I wanted to download everything. Since then, I can't click on any link and have it open right up. Instead, I have to go to the downloads and click on that, and then it opens.
I've tried to go to "tools" then "options" and "applications" to change this somehow, but I just can't figure it out.
DH says everything is always downloaded when it is a pdf file, but it downloads every link I click on now, even ones that aren't pdfs. I want to be able to have it open immediately. Any suggestions?
I usually use Firefox as my browser.
Thanks!

Changing download actions This will not affect media embedded in a web page - only links to the files themselves.

Click the menu button http://www.simplelivingforum.net//support.cdn.mozilla.net/media/uploads/gallery/images/2014-01-10-13-08-08-f52b8c.png and choose Preferences.

Select the Applications panel.
The Applications panel will display. Select the type of file for which you want to change the default action. Multiple entries for the same file format or extension (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File_format)? Some file types can include more than one Internet Media type.

The Action column will give you a drop-down menu, with options on action to take, whenever you click that type of file. http://www.simplelivingforum.net//support.cdn.mozilla.net/media/uploads/gallery/images/2015-05-06-15-09-21-08be06.png

Always ask: will prompt you to select what action you want Firefox to take when you click on that type of file. This can be useful if Firefox is automatically saving a file type or is always opening it with a certain program and you want to be asked what to do.
Save File: will always save the file to your computer using the Downloads window (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/where-find-and-manage-downloaded-files-firefox), whenever you click that type of file.
Open the file with an application or plugin of your choosing.

Close the about:preferences page.

Okay Alan........where's the "menu" button? Maybe you're calling it something different than I am. When I click on "Tools" at the top of the Browser, then I click on "options", then "applications".......but I can't find "Menu" or "preferences". Am I starting at the wrong place?

In Firefox it's the three horizontal bars in the upper right corner.

Woohoo!!! Thanks Alan!
I guess I had it set for all pdf files to go to download, and was unaware that I must have clicked on a lot of links that were in the pdf format.
Thanks so much for your help Alan. I can always count on you! :)
