Since the Frugals forum is also supposed to encompass product raves, I wanted to give a shout out to LL Bean's Vista Camp pants for women. I bought a pair in the spring and love them so much that I bought 3 more pairs, and I honestly might not be done yet. I only bought them when LLB was doing a sale (which they pretty much do every holiday, but sometimes on random days if you have an LLB credit card). One reviewer mentioned that they were comfortable if not necessarily stylish, but I have been complimented on them and I think they are adorable. (I guess stylish might also be in the eyes of the beholder). The jersey knit waist band is surely one of the best inventions ever. My size has been consistently back-ordered, so I'm not the only one who loves them, but I've always been willing to wait for things that are worth waiting for.

I'm hoping your experience is going to be different from mine. I bought a Vista skirt and it pilled like crazy- I still have it but don't wear it out in public. I then got a Vista skort, hoping it would be like the skirt, only with shorts. It was about 6" shorter. No one (including me) wants to see a middle aged somewhat overweight person in something THAT short. The skort hasn't pilled, but I also haven't worn it out.

LL Bean quality in the last few years has been all over the map for me. Items I buy have varied up to 2" in length for the same style, bought at the same time. Husband has the same thing happen. When its good, its great, but like I said, its uneven. I have started to buy more things from Duluth Trading. They only have petite for pants, but that means the skorts are at a reasonable length for a short girl (just above the knee).

That's too bad, Herbgeek. So far, so good on the pants. I'll have to keep Duluth in mind for the future. I do like the free return shipping with LLB since I have their credit card. Otherwise I am not an easy fit and would be reluctant to order clothes online. Duluth does have a bricks and mortar store in Burlington MA which isn't too far from me.
I agree that quality is more variable than it used to be with some of the brands. The same goes for Talbot's.
My future clothing purchases should be minimal, but those Vista Camp pants are cool and comfortable and perfect for my new "career" as a dog walker!

These are my pants, of course in my work they are perfectly acceptable, I think everyone on retreat had one pair of convertible (pants zip off into shorts) pants. I never wear shorts hiking or camping but sometimes like the option.

I adore my pair of LL Bean's True Shape jeans. However, I've tried other colors and leg styles and they don't fit as well. Even though they're $59 I'm willing to buy another pair that's a bit different but have no luck. So frustrating!

I need some new LLBean basic knit pants. I use them mostly like sweat pants actually but also as a back up casual work pant. However I lost weight and the medium is too big. My mom usually gets me things from LLBean because I can tell her exactly what I want and she likes to shop online there.

Aw drat! I was going to order some of the LL Bean pants, but I can't ignore all of the comments about the fabric pilling... sure do like the style and cut though...

Those look super comfortable and I love the style too. Maybe with a sale I will break down and try a pair!;)

Pilling has been minimal for me. I do wash my clothes inside-out on a delicate cycle, but not sure if that makes a difference. They are comfortable enough that I can tolerate the minimal pilling.
