I have seen a sturdy bag with handles woven from long flat folded strips of chip bags or something similar. The weave was more complex than a straight weave, possibly a twill. It was the sort of weave you might do with a flat natural material to make a basket such as flat palm fronds. Does anyone know of good instructions for this?

(It's not the weaving that is done by cutting chip bags to gum wrapper size and then making the zigzag looking weaving.)

If you have done this, what sort of bags work best? I can ask friends to save them.

I'd also be interested in any instructions for making baskets out of strips of rolled bags that are used more similarly to round reeds.

this is a good site for all kinds of stuff. I think you can find woven bags from just about anything here.

I LOVE Craftster, and find tons of neat ideas and inspiration there!

Here's a tutorial for one that's not on Craftster. It's kind of made like those old gum wrapper chains. I've never tried it, but it looks like fun!

You have to scroll down a bit to find the directions.
