For anyone in Calif who has a vehicle that isn't worth much and want to get a bit of money for it, they can get $1,000 ($1500 if you are low income) from the Calif Bureau of Auto repair (BAR). You can google BAR to see if your car qualifies. Generally they will take any vehicle as long as it can get to the dismantaler (sounds like the name of a Stephen King book) under it's own power and drive in forward at least 10 feet. I am doing this with my 10 year old Hyundai Accent who's transmission just went out. The blue book value in good condition is around $1800 - with a fried tranny (sounds like an X rated Stephen King book) and several other expensive things wrong with it, it's probably much less. Good way to get rid of and old car and get a bit more money from it then you would selling it - and without all the hassles.
