I did a cursory search and didn't see this reviewed before, but forgive me if it has been.

I watched this movie last night and was very moved. Even my DH was engrossed, and it's the kind of movie I would normally have to talk him into watching.

The premise:
Under threat by fundamentalist terrorists, a group of Trappist monks stationed with an impoverished Algerian community must decide whether to leave or stay.

The scenery and setting was beautiful. I enjoyed many aspects of the film: 1) it featured plain, real life-like (not pretty) actors; 2) the intimate brotherhood of the monks was very well interpreted; 3) it was a story illustrating how perhaps Christianity and Islam could coexist.

The actors were just SO good---you could absolutely feel their characters' pain and fear, but also their devotion and love for each other and their vocation.
