View Full Version : Saving Money on Razor Blade Replacements

Modern shaving systems (Mach 3, Sensor, etc.) are a tremendous improvement over the old safety razors, in my view.

But the replacement blades are expensive!

So I was delighted to come across a way to easily strop (sharpen) them on a pair of blue jeans for very extended use on another forum.

Apologies if this has been discussed before.

Here's a youtube video that explains it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B3Kxiom83Js

of course, stopping shaving helps, too..... ;-) (sorry, just LOVE those mustachioed and bearded men)........

Bartleby: I've been doing this for about a year now, and I think it really works!

I just use a straight razor. I think I paid $40 for it ~30 years ago.

Thanks Bartleby. Will have to force my DH to watch that. I was just complaining about the cost of his replacement razors (complared to mine).
I'm glad he only shaves once a week for church but still those things are beyond expensive.

Thanks for posting this! Dh and I have been astounded at the price of the blades, for men and women! Dh has extremely sensitive skin and finds those fancy ones are the only ones that don't tear up his face.

I also have been stropping my disposable blades for about a year. I expect never to have to buy another.

A subject well worth a re-run. ;)
