Have you made anything nice so far this year?

So far, I've made some tree decorations:

and some peppermint-flavoured 'bark' for the kids in the Spanish class I help out at:

I'd love to see your creations - great for inspiration!

I am going to make some cranberry/orange butter. I saw it online, basically whip the butter, add the cranberry sauce and some marmalade. I figger I will bring that and a raisin bread when visiting.

I made everyone in the familyu (16 people) a pair of socks to wear as house slippers. I don't know what I was thinking. Took me 3.5 months.

kally, Cranberry and orange butter?? That sounds divine! Normally I dislike butter, but if it's all jazzed up like that it sounds delicious.

herbgeek, did you personalise all the socks with favourite colours/patterns, etc? Such a good idea for a present.

flowerseverywhere, those ornaments ARE extremely cute! There's so much adorable stuff you can make with felt!

I'm not a great knitter Mira, so there is only one pattern I make. I did try to align the colors to what I think people like though. And if they don't, well, they are just house slippers so who is going to see them?

We are doing a homemade version of this nativity ornament

We have about 20 small gifts to do for DH side of family - we only do the gifts when we go to his families to celebrate.... but I may consider yearly homemade Nativity ornaments as my 'signature' gift

I spent yesterday finishing off the icing on the Christmas cakes (for family and friends - I made 12 this year!) - only the Black Bun still needs to be 'fed' booze once more and then that's IT.... apart from another couple of batches of mincepies on Christmas Eve.

Then it's gird up loins for Hogmanay!

I made 4 peppermint candy Christmas trees. Took the cardboard cone from my used up yarn, double-sided tape and 1-2 bags of individually wrapped peppermints. Taped one end of the mint wrapper to the cone all the way up. Big, round yellow lollipops top the "tree".

Supposed to remove each peppermint from the free end - leaving the paper taped to the cone. Idea is to go from a peppermint tree to a paper tree. Not sure how the paper tree will look, but the peppermint turned out cuter than I expected! :~)

Love the pictures, Mira. I LOVE soft ornaments/decorations.
