Jeff Yeager (of The Ultimate Cheapskate fame) just sent out an email reporting that his new book is available via eBook. It's called

“Don’t Throw That Away!”

He says

'It’s all about creative ways to reuse stuff rather than just trashing it, saving you money and helping to save the environment at the same time. And I’m talking about how to repurpose just about everything, from “Airsickness Bags” to “Zippers,”'

I don't do electronic books, so can't offer up a review myself, sorry to say, but would be interested to hear a review if anyone else happens to read this book.

In his email he mentions that Amazon has a new app that enables you to download eBooks to any device, not just e-readers.

Disclosures: I believe Jeff is an SLF member, and I know he's an FI'er, so I know he probably wouldn't feel it's within the no-self-promotion rule to tell you about his book here, but it seems like something that the community might find worth reviewing. (I have no financial or other interest in his or anyone else's book.)

I'm very interested - Jeff was one of two writers who set me on the path!
I wonder if there could be a special "Promote Yourself" forum here for those who do have something to promote, just a thought. I don't have anything to promote myself, and I certainly don't want pop-up adds jumping up on the frugality forum, but entrepreneurial SLFers are people I might be more inclined to patronize if the opportunity presented itself. If it were kept in it's own separate section, it might not be a bad thing ( the MMM forums have a dedicated spot for this sort of thing, and it doesn't seem to be polluting those forums with commercialism).

I second rosa's idea.

Re: ebooks on any device: As far as I know, this has been possible for a while. You get the Kindle app for whatever your other device is (iPad, iPhone, etc.) and then hook it to your Amazon account where your ebooks live. It even syncs across devices, so if you read on your phone a bit and then want to read on your iPad or Kindle, it will know where you left off on the other device.

I am becoming a bigger and bigger fan of ebooks. I was invited to work with a student the other day who has some vision challenges and the tools available that are pretty standard in ebooks are going to be a huge HUGE help to him in college. Amazing.

Kelli, Do you need to buy the Kindle app? What if you have a laptop and no cellphone or apps, can you still download e-books?

You can download the kindle ap for your PC or Mac for free. That's how I get my ebooks.... on my computer.
