I have been looking for an organization that is boots-on-the-ground helping those affected by Sandy, and accepting more than cash donations so we frugalistas/simple livers can help the only way we know how. I have vetted and can recommend the following:

PROJECT ENDLESS AGAPE is an organization which helps the homeless. They have been taking monthly trips into Philly for the last year and a half. With the recent devastation from Hurricane Sandy, they are now taking most of their supplies to help the shelters housing the victims of this disaster.

They are looking for donations of new and gently used:
- Blankets
-Coats
- Clothes (Men's, Women's and Children's)
-Toys and Games
-Pillows
-Baby Blankets
-Small flashlights
-Sleeping bags

They are also in need of:
-non-perishable food items (such as canned foods, Gatorade, Granola Bars, Energy and protein bars, grab and go snacks, cereal)
- Water
-Cleaning supplies
- Paper Products ( paper towels and napkins)
- Shovels
- Heavy duty brooms
-Trash Bags
- Toiletries (Shampoo, Conditioner, Hand Sanitizer, Lotion, Soap ,Nail Files. Towels, Wash Cloths, Toothbrushes, Trial-sized Toothpaste, Band aids, Nail Clippers, Tissues, Razors, Shaving Cream, Mouthwash, Wet Wipes, Deodorant)
- Diapers
-Advil and Tylenol
-Pet food
-Cat Litter

As you're cleaning your house or doing your shopping, please keep this list in mind. Remember, SMALL THINGS ADD UP. Please ship to: PROJECT ENDLESS AGAPE, 6 Reese Court, Jackson, NJ 08527.

Thank you! And PLEASE feel free to share and forward.

Purrrz,

Sue
