I wouldn't use the same colors but this is an excellent way to repurpose some old furniture into a child's play kitchen. A nice holiday gift!

Oh my goodness! How adorable! Makes me wish I had a little grand daughter to make one for. I'll have to send that link to my nephew.

Someone posted this same concept (not the same photos) some time ago in response to a lament about: what to do with entertainment centers?

It's difficult to get rid of entertainment center now, no one wants them. These conversions are cute, a great idea!

That is a really clever idea! So innovative and creative and it saves costs too. I didn't know my old furniture sets could be re-purposed to become something so pretty and still be fully used. Even though I do not have a daughter, I might just re-purpose one or two of my furniture sets into something new and re-use it for a few more years (not necessarily into a child's play kitchen). Thanks for the inspiration!

I was at my parents for a family dinner, and afterwards, tv was on one of those storage/auction shows. One of the gals did something similar with some older end tables/night stand things, and had them for sale for $900.

Good thing I didn't have kids. I'd be outfitting a tiny laboratory with faux Bunsen burners and crocheted dissection specimens and discouraging any domestic impulses in the little tyke. Really, I hate how we funnel kids into the "appropriate" gender slot even before they're born.

ETA: I guess that would be a knitted specimen:

Do not assume this is for a girl. My SIL and BIL had a pretty extensive play kitchen for their 4 boys and I remember playing with the 3rd one when he was 3 1/2 in it. He was very precise even back then in cooking his plastic French fries. He's now a chemical engineer. All of those kids know how to cook because their mother taught them; gardening and cooking is important to her, a farm girl.

I wouldn't have a big problem with a generic play kitchen--most men cook these days, after all. It's decorating it for and assigning it to girls that I have the problem with. Kids should grow up learning a variety of skills they can choose to use--or not use--in their adult lives. I've never really gone for the kiddie playhouse thing anyway, and fortunately I've never been in a position to have it thrust upon me.

I helped a couple repurpose old pieces of furniture into children’s furniture, not necessarily play kitchen as featured in here, and the couple was very happy with the outcome. The old pieces of furniture they had look very Amish, and indeed these are inspired by Amish way of living since these were given by another couple and look like pieces of furniture sold by Brandenberry. I was able to re-purpose an old cabinet with new colors that are lighter to the eyes, not too glaring, and had it streamlined making the edges look less heavy. The outcome was great and the couple was very satisfied with it.
