While everyone is compiling their reading lists, I'll recommend Confession of a Buddhist Atheist by Stephen Batchelor. Plays on some of the same themes as Buddhism Without Beliefs but is a more enjoyable read.
Maybe not the book for you if you like the cultural trappings of traditional Buddhism, but for me, as someone with a Western philosophical worldview, it contained a couple of nuggets that I found quite profound.
