Tonight I booked my flight to Las Vegas, and made my hotel reservations for a brief (and cheap!!!) vacation before starting work at the North Rim on May 8th this year. Every year I go through this - stressing out about the committment involved in making reservations.....This year though I am just glad to be able to have a job to go to and also to have the money to spend a few days resting up before it starts.....Rob

hey, have a good time.....check out the Savers thrift stores there......there's a couple really good ones.

of course, we're nuts.....everybody else goes to Las Vegas to gamble or go to shows....we hit thrift stores, Ethiopian restaurants, go see the pawn shop featured in Pawn Stars on the History Channel and stuff like that...

you'll be up there on the North Rim all summer with few opportunities for "bright lights/big city".....have a great time on your vacation and store up all that glitz and glitter for the summer in the "back of beyond"......

have a good time!

Our conventions use to take us to Vegas every year. I miss those days - it is a fun place - great for people watching and lots of good cheap food!

My nephew is a deputy district attorney there - in their office the slogan is, "if it happens in Vegas - you may be staying in Vegas"!

Have a Great time.

have a good time!LOL I don't think I do Vegas like most, either. There is a really good Saver's on Decatur south of Charleston a few lights, I can't remember the cross street exactly, and as for entertainment, I people watch, check out all the over the top casinos, and sign up for players cards and gamble on the casinos $10 they will give you to get you started - then I quit once the free money runs out. Also I make it a point to hit the gardens at Bellagio - free and absolutely wonderful!!! Also their celing in the lobby is incredble, the glass flowers on the ceiling wall are by Dale Chilluly, who has done a glass work at the Desert Botanical Gardens here. So much to see and do, and if you are creative, it can be very low cost, too! Rob

I especially enjoyed standing outside the Bellagio one night watching the light and water show (Vegas excess at its best), and realizing that the music that was playing was the old Shaker hymn...."Tis a gift to be simple, tis a gift to be free"....we still chuckle every time we're at the Bellagio about that.

We had fun on this last trip watching them set up the Xmas decorations in the atrium at the Bellagio....such a production, but a real fairyland when they finished......(even simple livers can appreciate really beautiful over the top Xmas decorations)......

have a great time.....Las Vegas IS a great place to have a wonderful time for very, very little money, IF you can resist the gambling urge........(unless you're just playing with THEIR money, hahahaha)
