But I am trying a wheat free/low wheat diet for a few days. I had a day this week where my stomach got so bloated that my pants hurt terribly and I felt miserable until I could at least get into PJ's. I realized I had loads of wheat products that day (I am trying to loosely track food). I started to look up info since I am fructose intolerant and there is some evidence that we can also have issues with wheat specifically. That does not mean all gluten which makes it easier, but with more and more food items labeled gluten free that helps. Yesterday night I had pad thai with tofu, today my extra healthy scrambled eggs (with spinach, peppers and squash), some vegie sushi for lunch and rice with indian vegetables for dinner. What I noticed is that I have not been starving mid-day, I am tired because this week has been intense but I have not taken a nap despite exercising and doing yard work.

So it may be all in my mind so far, for those who have taken out an offending food, either allergy or intolerance, how quickly did you notice a change? Did the improvement continue to increase for awhile such as feeling a little better at first and then much better in a month?

In response to a little conversation with LilyB on another thread, I ran across this service and thought there are some people on the boards right now who could use it themselves or know someone who could. It's called Cleaning for a Reason, and here's the initial description I found on this Head Huggers site:

Quote:

For any woman currently undergoing Chemo there is a cleaning service that provides FREE housecleaning - 1 time per month for 4 months while she is in treatment. All she has to do is sign up and have her doctor fax a note confirming the treatment. Cleaning for a Reason will have a participating maid service in her zip code area arrange for the service. This organization serves the entire USA.

The Cleaning for a Reason site isn't actually that great, IMO - this little description described what their entire website couldn't make clear to me! Anyway, I hope sharing it helps someone out.

I am a vitamin believer.....right or wrong (and there is too much conflicting info out there for me to know). But for me, and my health, I believe.

Have always bought the cheap stuff at Wal-Mart. And then I recently read an article that tells me that I'm probably wasting my money on the cheap generic vitamins, based on the article's list(s) of ingredients. I'm ready to upgrade.

But I live in the boonies so will be mail-ordering. Looking for suggestions of quality online vitamin companies. I really don't want to have to read every last list of ingredients in what I'm ordering, or looking for the fine print. Just hoping for a reputable company that sells quality vitamins/supplements that I could order from with some degree of confidence.

Thanks!

Every weekday I go to a dogpark where I have to handle gate latches that have been handled by many others who also poop scoop. I also go other places where I think things are not too sanitary. For years I sprayed Everclear alcohol on my hands, but I think that's drying and maybe too harsh for the environment. I then switched to food-grade hydrogen peroxide from health food store, and am thinking about switching again to Nutribiotic First Aid Skin & Wound spray with grapefruit seed extract. I have a compromised immune system, but might do these things anyway. Can anyone suggest to me if they think the Skin & Wound Spray is just as good as the peroxide and if it's just as good as the alcohol, or whatever else comes to mind? I don't know if I can get a strong form of GSE, or if I'd need to.

Hello everyone,

I have been off the forums for awhile now (except for lurking now and then). Last September, 2012, I went to see a pulmonologist at the UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles, after being referred by my local pulmonologist. He diagnosed me with an interstitial lung disease but was not sure what caused it. At the time, he said it was probably 1 of 3 types and he would treat them all the same. Therefore, I opted out of an open lung biopsy, which has risks associated with it.

In September I started on 40mg of Prednisone and 2000mg of CellCept. I responded well and since have tapered off and probably won't see any significant improvement going forward. My recent CT Scan showed that no disease is present at this time, but I do have fibrosis (scarring) of the lung tissue which is irreversible. My lung function is 65%. My dr's goal is to get me into remission so that I will not get further scarring. We will be discussing long-term medication at my next visit.

The one thing that my dr said might be the antigen for my disease is that I spent time at my son's house at the beach during which he had a cockatoo. Birds are often the cause of this disease. My son gave the bird away as soon as he found out. Another possible cause is coffee bean dust. I happened to see this on the Internet while researching my condition. As it happens, my office for the last 3-4 years has been in my youngest son's building where his business is coffee roasting. Now my office is at home.

My most recent diagnosis from my dr is "chronic hypersensitivity pneumonitis."

I am wondering if any of you has had this disease or knows about it.

Thanks, Linda

I had bad migraines my whole life, but after menopause I still had auras, but just very mild headaches. Now I'm having what's called (self diagnosed) "ice pick" headaches. They are just sudden jabs in the head. They only last a second, but are really painful. Anyone else?

So I am just not really looking for an answer, mostly sharing. Today I am deeply tired, really. I know there are many reasons, stress, loads of gardening and running over the last 3 days, and a very long work day today. I am deciding to not find ways to increase energy or otherwise push my body past limits. I am going out to my car for a 40 minute nap. When I get really really tired like this I am sub-functional for a long time and highly inefficient, however modern life sometimes does not give any opportunity for a lifestyle and work day that respects that.

It is at least the perfect outdoor temperature for a nap in the car.
