Thanks for answering -- sorry I took so long to notice it! Sheeeesh ... I lived and worked in Fresno for a short time --- this was '65 -- then got married and we and moved to Eureka. I don't remember any tarantulas in Coalinga, tho I'm sure there were, probably plenty out in the hills! However, we had grasshoppers galore, making the streets slick when people drove over them. :-D Yeah, we're glad we don't live in Coalinga anymore, but still have family there. It's changed a lot -- mostly because of the earthquake, I guess. You know what they say: you can't go home again. And a close friend use to teach in Visalia and we visited her now and again as well, but truth be told, I don't remember much about it! So, welcome aboard the Simple Living site! I've been a member for about 12 years now, but don't post much anymore. Good people and good info here!
Hi, Serendipity! Let's see if this turns out to be a reply, or if I'm simply posting on my own profile page. I'm actually in the South Valley, in Visalia, but I lived in Fresno for 25 years before that. My parents used to live on the Central Coast, so I drove through Coalinga about once a month on the way to visit them. I had always heard there were tarantula migrations in Coalinga, so I was always a bit nervous stopping for gas or food there. I hope you are enjoying Idaho more than Coaling Station A.
