Should it get cancelled like The Hunt?
Why Should it be “canceled?” Didn’t it get some critical allocates?
I don’t watch comic book character movies so I didn’t know this one was coming up. But I just now read up a little bit about it and I have to say, Joaquin Phoenix is a perfect cast for that role of Joker.. If anyone asked me who I thought would be good at it I would’ve said him. I think he’s creepy even without a role to play and make up.
Guess it would depend on what you think about their values.
The hunt (I had to look that up), is based on a story that is older then Batman (and the Joker). Both employ violence, and I expect there will be guns in the Joker. (Batman used to carry guns)
So if they decide to go ahead with the Joker, will it play in an Aurora theater?
What makes it problematic?
Too Incel-friendly?
Too clown-phobic?
Too mental health ableist?
Too much white makeup?
Too much gun culture?
What makes it so bad that the decision to see it or not can’t be trusted to theater goers?
Some critics think it could cause more mass shootings or hate crimes.
Perhaps.
This is a thing now?
Not applicable.
Hadn't thought of that...
Is the film heavy on gun use?
Maybe.
I don’t think we should give much credence to film critics applying political standards to movies. If gunplay or violence is allowed to be damning, we would never have gotten classics like High Noon, Scarface or Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter.
What if Elizabeth I shut down Shakespeare for influencing regicide?
If we quash art out of fear it will inspire bad actions, we will allow ourselves to be trapped in a hell of PBS documentaries and Dancing with the Stars. Who wants that?
