I like this little beauty a lot. Too small for me, but lovely inside.

I don't have an original thought. I am someone else who is trying to tell you that this "tiny house" fad is just that. If you have a right to keep beating your drums about it, so do I. Those absurdly "Tiny Houses" are just another form-preceding-function fad, by a mile. Some people are very fascinated with stuff that is but a Novelty . There is a F'book site called American Nitro. It is automotive, but shows hillbilly hotrods that have been "re-engineered". The more incongruous the combination, the better. Only ingenuity and um, creativity counts. Example: a 1940's Lincoln V 12 engine, fitted into a custom-made motorcycle. With straight pipes. Retro-engineered. That engine weighs in the neighborhood of 1000 lbs, and was only 130-150hp. Or, the cars with giant-sized weelz and littlebitty tyres, jacked way up. Some people are in Awe, but Thinking People are not. See? So it is with those tiny houses. You kids would soon feel like it was a jail cell. I can see where it fits into your fantasy: You don't like all the housecleaning a normal home requires to maintain it to your standards. You live in one of the high-rent areas on either coast, and it is a nightmare to pay taxes, mortgage, Utility bills, Maintenance, and keep the HOA/ neighborhood association off your back regarding lawn care, etc., etc. I am not without empathy: I can see why, in your fantasy world, a Tiny House would alleviate all of that. But, it would lead to dissatisfaction in meeting your other needs, I am sure . Why not move to the Midwest, and have a home similar to, or exactly like the ones Habitat for Humanity builds, on a small lot? That would prolly cost you waaay less, and keep you happy. Or would it? Hope that helps you some. Thankk Mee.

I wouldn't call it a fad, because the vast majority of people aren't actually doing the tiny house thing, because most people do realize that while in its pure form it could be both incredibly freeing and incredibly personal and incredibly "green", the chances of it being anything but impractical are small. To me, the "point" and allure of a tiny house is not to make the tiniest house possible, it's once again the point of finding out what is enough. Who was it who was looking for a house in the DC area?
