They are out tonight in force. I sat out front and watched for quite a while. Memories of childhood. And a simple and frugal evening.

We don't get them here. But I just had a pleasant and simple evening too, playing with the puppy outside. The weather is beautiful right now and it was nice to be out enjoying the evening breeze instead of inside the house. Of course, now I'm tired out and will need to rinse before bed, but it's worth it. A quiet country evening sounds lovely. So glad you're enjoying yourself!
I've been waiting and watching for them. Haven't noticed them yet.

Have lots of them here in the country but it has to warm up a lot more for them to come out. They are part of the rural experience that I treasure. Glad to hear that others do as well.
As Cicero said, “Gratitude is not only the greatest of virtues, but the parent of all the others.”
We will not see them until late July.

I remember them from when I was a kid and traveled to Nebraska on summer vacation with my parents.
Just reading the words 'lightening bugs' reminds me of everything good about summer.
We have been having an exceptionally mild spring thus far and one can set a clock by the lightning bugs - 8:15 every evening - they are everywhere. I read somewhere that not using a lot of yard chemical/pesticides helps to bring them back.
