I attended a showing of two Buster Keaton films over the weekend at a local theater. The show was fantastic and included an organist playing a Wurlitzer just as it would have been in the day.
If you've never seen a silent film, I highly highly recommend trying out any of Keaton's films. I had never had the chance to see them on a large screen until yesterday. I know he's considered brilliant as a film maker, and he is, but I didn't realize what a snappy actor he was. In his own way, he was a good looking chap too. What a man and what an afternoon.
We saw One Week and Sherlock Jr. Sherlock Jr was on my long list of film's I'd heard about and hadn't seen. He is nothing short of brilliant in this film. It rivals anything made today for suspense, action, fun, photography and inventiveness. It has a fantastic dream sequence that is not to be missed.
