I really want a Roaster oven, but.......

Every single brand of them is made in China.
I just don't like to cook in anything from there.
I have this fantasy of imagining that for a day, every store had to get rid of everything made in China, and leave just the stuff made in the U.S. I'll bet there would only be a couple things left.

Cathy A. I agree. It's so hard to buy anything that isn't made there.

We bought a chicken roaster made by Lodge in the US. It is fantastic for meat and poultry and the lid doubles as a frying pan!

Look online. You might be able to find something assembled in Europe (it's hard to say about all the parts though ....). And Europe is generally a better bet for something like that being made there than the U.S.. They do some higher end stuff sometimes, better made as well and costing it.

And there's always buying used (with the guilt washed out, although this might not matter if the reason for not wanting to use it is safety rather than not wanting to economically support china oh due to horrible including slave labor conditions, lack of environmental protections etc. etc.).

Yea I've had the experience of going to a store like Bed, Bath and Beyond, so yea I mean household products, and being struck by how I wouldn't buy most of the stuff because I don't want to support China. Of how little there is left for a conscientious consumer (uh ) to buy. It's a disorienting experience. I'm all lost in the supermarket ....

Tell you what---the GE toaster oven was a hot seller as a gift item and kitchen accessory, back in the 1960's-on, when they were still USA-made. Not everyone liked using them, though. As convenient as they are to use, they take a lot of electricity(amp draw) at 120v,generate quite a bit of heat for a countertop, and they are a pain to keep clean. Then, the microwave came along, and the Toaster oven got pushed aside. There are no doubt more than a few of them down at the thrift stores & flea markets, still in good useable shape, or at household auctions of living estates and so forth. If it is worth it to you to get out and around and look, I'll bet you can find a USA-made unit pretty cheap.
