    Simplemind, your husband got his appeal fast. Maybe the backlog varies by state, here the lawyers tell you flat out, expect a 2 yr process.

    I can't begin to count the number of patients who were terminally ill and it took a year or more to even get them approved. Most died without a settlement. Later, down the road it would get settled and the family would get the money but still, it's so wrong to do that to the documented terminally ill.

    Jane, has your friend tried a lawyer? You only pay if you win and then they get 25% of the settlement. Everybody told me to have a lawyer and they were right. When I filled out the application (many, many pages), I thought I did a fine job of answering the questions. My lawyer took one look and said we were starting over and doing it together. She spent 3.5 hrs on that! I was impressed.

    Yes, they have a lawyer--supposedly a good one--and a medical record a mile high. Fingers crossed.
