Here are some ideas I included in my summer staff training that I wanted to share
* cloth napkins and personalized rings, when you give each person a napkin ring with their name or a decoration on it then it is much easier to win over people to cloth napkins, they know that they are using their own and you can usually wash them once a week and be fine since cloth napkins are larger
* flannel hand towels, this is great for when you have a party and might use paper but also in shared work bathrooms, the yoga studio where I meditate has 6X6 pieces of flannel for drying your hands and a basket you can put the used ones in, If they are different colors and it is a longer event like the retreats I go on then people can re-use their drying towel (I use the same as others, your hands are clean after all)
* cloth 'paper towels' with flannel or microfiber cloth, I would make them 12X12 and have a basket or bucket for used ones, adding a couple to a load of laundry doesn't take any extra effort or water
* water refill stations at outdoor events instead of cases of water bottles, if you ask everyone to bring a bottle and set up those giant 5 gallon water jugs you can have water anywhere and not use any throw aways,
Just a couple ideas, and I think I am encouraging even more eco-friendly practices with adults!
