I agree IL, House of Cards definitely took a turn.....
I just finished both seasons of Billions. It about a hugely wealthy hedge fund manager and the attorney general who is trying to catch him in shady deals. Both fall victim to greed and power. For me it was an insight into how some speculative investment firms might wheel and deal, as well as some of the tricks the judicial system plays. Award winning actors and actresses, a plot that makes you think, and what seems like realistic situations. None of the characters are particularly likable, but no as dark s House of Cards. Later in the series a new character is introduced who is "non-binary" in mate preferences and prefers to be refereed to as "they or them". Supposedly a first for a major TV production. One of the better TV type series I've streamed, or actually in this case DVDs from Netflix.
Stranger things 2
Hell, I cant even get Stranger Things I.
It is apparently out in limited release in dvd. Not available to me, so I thought that I would actually pay for it but cant find a downloadable or streaming version on Amazon.
this production seems to,be undergoing a different pattern of distribution than the usual.
Alias Grace on Netflix. It is after the book by Margaret Atwood and vaguely based on a true story. The story line is about a young woman convicted of murder, but having no memory of it. My take away was how hard life could be for single women in the mid-1800's. Rolling Stone had a write up about it saying it was especially relevant to current sexual misconduct issues. The acting and film quality are a notch above the usual Netflix productions.
Well, if the story line didn't take enough of a downhill slide, Kevin Spacey put the topper on killing the show. On the other hand, since Claire turns out to be just as evil as Francis, the show may renew itself with her having him bumped off after learning he's a pedophile. The best fiction always has a ring of truth.
