As soon as I get a little extra money I am going to do the DNA testing thing - no one to my knowledge anywhere in my family has gotten it done. As far as I know I am 100% Jewsih, with origins from the Ukraine, Hungary, Poland, Austria and Germany . I think it is so interesting!

Do it! I have done it and I am constantly getting cousin matches, and they tell you the shared ancestor from the family trees. It's neat to have the confirmation of the research.

Years ago, before Ancestry.com offered it, I had my son's DNA tested by African Ancestry, a company in Washington DC. I found it fascinating to find out his origins from the Bamileke people of Cameroon. Due to slavery the origins on his father's side of the family were shrouded in mysteries not resolvable with traditional genealogical research.

Me too. I really want to do this. We just got an email from my husband's brother who did it and said "here, now you don't have to spit!" Results came back as expected french and Jewish though a different branch of Jewish than they thought. Ashkenazi is what the report came back "you have a parent or grandparent that was 100% Ashkenazi Jew". The thing that threw off his family a bit was the 6th or 7th generations back Sardinian and North African reference.
