Indeed! They actually have discernible flavors, unlike the colored flakes/dust that's been sitting on the supermarket shelves for months and most home pantry shelves even longer. There are some decent dried herb brands out there. But just as canned can't hold a candle to fresh, dried herbs definitely fall into second place.

We have most things we cook with growing in the garden. We had an omelette with marjoram that was truly one of the greatest things I have ever eaten. I don't know why anyone with a yard or a terrace or a windowsill would not grow their own herbs.

I use a little fresh herbs, really nice. When I can't use them I go to the special spice store and spend the money on some high quality spices. Makes a difference. For example there were 6 different types of paprika I think, some hot even. You can really customize to taste.

I am making a Brazilian black bean dish tonight. Wow! It smells good!
It is flavored with a navel orange, believe it or not.

I made two meals' worth. So tomorrow I will have it again for dinner!
Though it is flavored with a small amount of sausage, so I would not feel odd about eating it for breakfast. I might do that... haha

    Feijoada? Good stuff!

And though I enjoy eating breakfast foods throughout the day, I accord the same respect to lunch and dinner meals and often eat them for breakfast, too.

Good on ya, UL, for picking up a valuable life skill.

I am going to make Hoppin' John and Mujadara next, I think.

I am also working on making chapati. The ones I made with sweet potatoes where quite yummy. I like how making chapati is meditative too.
