Would you rather have a clown for a president, or a comedian?

So here's an article on the possibility of Stephen Colbert running against Trump in 2020.

    http://www.cnn.com/2017/06/25/opinio...ion/index.html

The unintended consequence of pop culture and multimedia is that now entertainers are the best candidates for office because of name recognition and Q score.

Is this the future of politics?

So if the 2020 election winds up being Trump v Colbert, who gets your vote? (Please, God, grant us some viable 3rd party candidates.)

I'll take comedians potentially running for President in 2020 for $100, Catherine LOL. Seriously, I'll take a comedian over the current clown as what is happening in/with the US government these days is not at all funny. Rob

I tend to like Colbert, and his sister is in politics and can give him pointers, and he is from a great state, so I'd probably vote for him.
DH wants a chance to vote for Al Franken.

I have the greatest respect for Stephen Colbert, and it wouldn't be the first, (or second, or third) time an entertainer ran for office; I'd certainly consider him. I'd vote for Al Franken, as well. .

You forgot Gopher, or whoever that guy from Loveboat was.
I would say most you listed did at least an adequate job.

I thought that was Fred Thompson. Wasn't he on the Loveboat, or was it something else?

I'm thinking if PT Barnum were alive today, he'd be our next president.
Now that they have gotten rid of the circus.

The guy on Love Boat was Fred Grandy (aka Gopher) who became a congressman.
Fred Thompson was on Law and Order.
