Well, I bought a tree. I bought the playground style in beige so that my new creamsicle cat can blend right into it. And the wider base appears to offer better stability - he's a chubby one!

If they don't use it, I will return it. But I'm going to do my best to get Max to use it. Now that he is in the house, he rarely goes outside for fear of being run off by the Diva. So he's been going around sharpening his nails on the couches. And unfortunately, I don't have anything to redirect him to. The Diva sharpens hers outside and if she happens to use the couch for convenience, I just tell her no and she stops. But Max is a big boy and I fear the damage he might do to the furniture.

Also, now that he's comfortable inside, he likes to hang with us in the tv room in the evenings. Well, one human, two dogs, and two cats (who are on uneasy terms with each other) makes for a crowded couch! I will put the tree in there and hope that at least one of the furbabies starts to use it.

    Wish me luck!

Once we got a couple of these for our living room our two completely stopped scratching the furniture.
