    supervisor showed up!

In the middle of a lot of staff illness I was in bad shape yesterday afternoon. I knew early in the day and despite continuing constant work on hiring I do not have a person in to absorb the staff absences. I called him and was almost in tears asking, know the other situation where he didn't support my colleague (it was serious enough that the principal at her school both came and supported the event and sent an email to the head of our department about the lack of support from him). So he came out! Good for him. I have complete written instructions on how to be me for an afternoon and it went fine. At the end he told me he understood why I very much needed someone. That is a very big shift, and a needed one.

I still haven't seen potential jobs, and my job coach is not available lately. I have a week off in December so I will do more then. I hear that licensing will need some people, I need to see if I think I would be a good fit however the pay rate looks in the right range and I would qualify for the job. The open positions would be announced in January. My colleague will have a meeting about her improvement plan today and this will be her tipping point, she is half expecting to be fired. Long story there, but a few years ago we had a department purge which included a lot of people that both of us worked well with. How her meeting goes will affect my future too, looking for a job has brought up how much I love my school, my students and families!

    Thanks for listenting.

Gaining the benefit of a supervisor being better aware is such a help. Good to hear that this happened.
As Cicero said, “Gratitude is not only the greatest of virtues, but the parent of all the others.”
