    Pap Smears

I found this article, and others with 3 or 5 year recommended intervals for pap screening, informative.

I have always been told to get this test annually, and now I am questioning the apparent overkill.

Good article, thanks. Just fyi, about 5 to 10 years ago my primary care doctor and the midwifery practice where I receive "well-woman" care both informed me of these changes in the standard of care, i.e., not considered necessary/helpful to do annually anymore.

I've been only doing every 3 years for a while now, and mammograms every other year.

My OB tells me that I should do it every year, but haven't done it for 2 years now.

My doctor told me that I didn't need to have an actual PAP every year but I did need to have a yearly pelvic exam?
