Paying even less now for contact lenses...

Constantly learning new ways to save money. The way I have been doing it:

    1. Pay $30 for a contact lens appointment/subscription at my local college.
    2. Order two years worth of contact lenses on line to avoid having to get a yearly subscription which appears to be required if buying in US.
    3. Comparison shop the different companies
4 Look for a rebate from the company for the eye appointment cost.

    5. The latest I have started doing as of today: buy from CANADA online. Company I use has free shipping, no other surprise "handling fees" or other add-ons, gave me 10% coupon for first order, and price is cheaper even without that. BEst of all: no requirement for a yearly eye exam, so saves me that cost. Just look at the box of contacts and fill in what you need on the order form.

I plan to still have a checkup at the local college clinic every two or three years.

I have often ordered 2 years worth and skipped years on exams.

Have also search the Canadian sites and did not know which one to take a chance on.

thanks for this info, my family can use it.

You are welcome. I found their prices very competitive, cheaper than the cheapest place I could find in U.S. Don't forget to apply the 10% new customer code for signing up.

Did you have to pay a foreign transaction fee to your credit card company?

I live in the UK. I used to wear contacts, but found them increasingly uncomfortable so went back to glasses. My eyesight has been deteriorating for a number of years, and my prescriptions getting stronger, year on year. I also have the condition called Adie’s pupil. The pupil is permanently fixed in one eye, and becoming so in the other. This is complicated by a diagnosis three weeks ago of ocular rosacea.

Eventually, it was decided that I also had cataracts in both eyes. The surgeon decided that as it would be trickier than most cataract ops, a specialist would do the ops. I opted to have the ‘bad’ eye done first, last Wednesday. I have to wait two weeks for the post op appt. then will be given a date for the second op. I can’t WAIT! I am seeing more clearly than I have for at least 20 Years. It is disconcerting that the ‘good’ eye vision is so poor, as I thought it was pretty good.

It has cost me absolutely zero! Thank the gods for the NHS, warts and all.

I was going to order more contacts today from LensPure but in two years the price went up from $348 to $548. At that price I am probably better going stateside with Contact Lens King and paying the contact lens eval fee to the eye doctor (if and when I can get an exam that works for me) . Has anyone used Contact Lens King?

The lenses I wear now are being discontinued as of October so I guess I have to figure something out. The industry is trying to force everyone to go with expensive daily lenses, which also create more plastic waste for the environment.

I did email LensPure to see if they can do anything for me.
