IL I use your method with my DH too.
I put a pair of jeans and a sweater in the donate bag. Both are perfectly good - I just don't love them and need them, so out they go to bless someone else.
"Do not accumulate for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and thieves break in and steal. But accumulate for yourselves treasure in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, your heart is also." Jesus
Filled a box yesterday and DH took it to goodwill before I changed my mind. I’ve been cleaning out closets, drawers etc. one a day for the past few weeks. It is giving me such peace of mind. Tackled a big job this morning, my closet which is big and has my clothes plus all my crafting supplies. Now off to meet friends. Life is good and in my case, much less cluttered. I am determined not to leave my kids a big mess if something happens to me.
My stuff is wanted /needed elsewhere, which is helpful. A friend is doing some type of book drive so I culled several books for the cause. A nearby consignment shop thinks some of my former office wear might be consign-able, so I'm gathering some items to bring in. Savers is doing a special "double punch card credit," so I'm putting together a bag for them too.
Felt I needed to wait until Big Brothers/Big Sisters actually picked up the donation - 15 items out! I don't usually count, as I never know when any of the organizations will call for pickups, but I just may start! Very motivated at the moment!
