Likewise. I download from the library if Amazon's price is too high--say, more than two dollars. I'm reading as fast as I can...

With the due dates on public library ebooks, I can’t shake the feeling that it’s like homework. When I own the book it becomes autonomous fun.

Hmm, seems a story of people who whatever there sense of right and wrong I can't say I relate to it (multiple unplanned children?). But a work of fiction doesn't need to be of course.

i understand that, I read books when I want to, not by a deadline.

I read it a long time ago, and I can't say it made any particular impression on me.
I find that library due dates are a helpful nudge to get away from my computer and read more.

I can usually renew a book one time.

I've noticed that, and ebooks don't seem to be renewable. I try to only have one or two library books downloaded at a time to minimize the time pressure.

We can renew twice unless there are others waiting for the book. The fines won't exactly break the bank either, but I do try to return on time out of consideration for other library customers.
