So much else going on.... Hardly a murmur!

Today said North Korea sent up more missiles.... Not much is being made of it. Trump surely did not do anything to stop North Korea and missile launches!!! A great negotiator... hardly!!!

To be fair, which president has managed the North Koreans in any meaningful way?

Reminds me of something I've often been told in work situations. Under promise and over deliver. Or phrased differently, it's important to manage people's expectations.

Since spending is initiated in the House of Representatives I'd like to see someone hold Nancy Pelosi to the now abandoned notion of preparing a national budget, having both houses approve or disapprove and send to the Executive for signature. Continuing resolutions do not serve us well.

If Democrats were willing to deficit spend like this they might be a great deal more popular than they are. Are they even interested in holding power?

Trump policy is full stimulus of a non-recession economy (low interest rates and deficits). And if he gets reelected that will be why (well some incumbent advantage as well of course).

I think both parties have largely abandoned the idea that deficits matter. At best, one partisan will lamely retort to his opponent that “you guys do it too”. Ultimately, we will pay a price for this. Or perhaps our children or grandchildren will.

And now we have candidates promising to fund all manner of wonderful things by wrangling a flock of golden geese. If the voters fall for it, we will deserve what happens next.

Where is Calvin Coolidge when we need him?

I can remember Obama saying his treaty represented the North Koreans “commitment to denuclearization”. On the plus side, he didn’t send them pallet loads of cash.
