I never had a weight problem until 50 when I developed a too fast and erratic heartbeat along with HBP and asthma. Have to be on a beta blocker for my heart and quickly got fat and tired. I was walking 6-8 miles/day back then. Now I walk 4.

How did you find this out? I have a belly. An ex-girlfriend saw me shirtless a few days ago and said: "UL, you have a real dad-bod!"
She and I dated back when I was almost 50 lbs. lighter! haha

A 35 inch or large waist in women or a 40 inch or more waist in men can supposedly indicate an unhealthy amount if abdominal fat - there was an article in The NY Times. I’m not sure why men get so many more inches - we have more internal organs.

It is worse if the fat around the stomach is hard versus soft. I worked with a guy like this and his doctor said it was a huge health risk.

    36.6 I'm down 22 pounds in 6 months.

Abdominal fat: the more dangerous fat is that surrounding organs in the abdomen. Subq fat is less dangerous.

My last BMI was 20.1. I'm down 3 lbs this year which I attribute to more walking - retirement and dog-walking gig.
