    Extra steps

I thought I would share a couple of tricks I use to boost my step count on days when I don't manage to fit in a good walk. The first is to be very task inefficient and make more trips than is actually necessary up and down stairs with laundry, etc.
The second is to pace instead of standing still for some activities, like brushing my teeth or drying dishes.
You can add a surprising number of steps to your day with these!

The kindergarten teacher at my wife's school marches in place as she stands before the class.

Yes, same concept, although I think I would find that distracting if I was a student.

I suppose hooking it to the dog and watching him run up and down the fence line wouldn't count. It's a good thing I don't have one.

RR do you have a Fitbit, or how do you measure your steps?

I do have a Fitbit, and no, I won't be putting it on the dog's collar. The dog I walk is a pretty laid back character. It would make more sense for him to put his Fitbit on me.

Cleaning the house really helps to pile on the steps. If I'm motivated to clean the whole house at once, I easily hit my 10k

I march in place while I watch tv at night. I have also run circles in my house.

I get over 10K steps going to work, average above 13K. Today I got about 15 with walking to and from Comic Con to take the lightrail.
