Mid 90ís and very high humidity.

We are tramping around gardens, looking at lilies in
    Des Moines Region.

Pretty miserable! But more rain tonight will cool things off.

My parents are in the Des Moines area, sitting out for a concert and trying to manage.

MN and WI are in a "Sweltering Summer Heat Wave" … Thunderstorms are expected to be severe/damaging.

Heavy rains have been washing out roads and bridges. Ashland WI had its storm sewer system overwhelmed by the last major thunderstorm... so their municipal sewage was bestowed on the lake I love more than all others.

High of 98 F expected for today (down from earlier prediction of 106), 97 right now, 22% humidity, wind WNW at 14 mph on the Sacramento River Delta in California. Forecast is a drop into the mid 80s for the coming week, after winds of 33mph tomorrow.

It was in the mid 80s today here in Nova Scotia. Locals told us there was snow flurries here last week.

We were mid-eighties and it felt pretty hot doing yard work this afternoon. We did it anyway, then took a shower, and now we're feeling cooler and doing drinks and burgers on the grill.
Bought a hydrangea and planted it in the garden.

"Only" (!) 89 degrees but with 70% humidity making it feel quite tropical. Saint Paul, Minnesota.
If Americans expended even a fraction of the energy on civic engagement that we spend on consumer ideology, our democracy would be much healthier. Can you imagine people camping out to vote? -- Charles Roberts, Amherst, Mass., Nov. 25, 2006
