    Applied Internally

I am spending 2 to 3 hours a day commuting so I got the OK from my current manager to apply for a position with the company in my home city. I filled out the paperwork tonight and will get it signed off on tomorrow and submit it.

It is in inside sales which I worked in from 2002 to 2011 and did well in, but the boss thinks I lack product knowledge and won't get it, which may be why he agreed to sign off on my application.

A friend of mine who applied at my company recently for a sales job said she got the distinct impression they did not want a woman, so I figure the odds are against me but I will see what happens. I have mixed feelings.

Wow I hate that sexist crap. I hope you get it. What a long commute.

How long does it take to get up to speed on a product, anyway?
Fingers crossed for success; if nothing else, you're getting an updated resume', and maybe interview experience. Hope for the best!

Oh that just sounds like a boss who doesn't want to lose an employee.
Product knowledge is easy to pick up, of course they hire and train people who don't know the product but have sales experience!

They told me they just filled the position this morning. Then a connection of mine found out it is not filled. So good thing I did not get it because I don't want to work for a liar who would probably expect me to lie to customers to make sales. Already I have heard of some lies regarding warranties, freight charges, pricing, etc but nothing specific to that location, which I have not dealt within my current role.
