IMHO if you watch enough TV to justify two or three TVs, then if something happens to the roof antenna (wind damage, foreign object, etc.) or the amp (power surge, etc.), you'd probably want to fix/replace that rather than resort to sometimes-working rabbit ears. But $10 is not a high price to keep around one set of rabbit ears, which could serve as a troubleshooting tool if you think you have future roof-antenna issues or if something does happen to the antenna and it will take a few days or weeks to repair the damage (wet roof, etc.).
