There is no Film I will watch 50 times.
There is no Film I will watch 50 times.
Well, maybe not 50 times but for a more than once watch:
Breakfast at Tiffany's (so New York-y)
Stir Crazy (can make me laugh out loud)
Second Hand Lions (Loved the two uncles)
Harold and Maude (Love Ruth Gordon's quirky character and the off-beat story)
The Music Never Stopped (based on an actual person)
Back to the Future (the first one)
Dirty Dancing (for the dance scenes)
Midnight Cowboy (my all time favorite movie)
"Like a bird on the wire, like a drunk in the midnight choir, I have tried in my way to be free." Leonard Cohen
The only movie I’ve seen multiple times is:
OFFICE SPACE!
ok, that one. I guess there are films that have many watchable scenes. I may not enjoy seeing the movie from beginning to end often, but I can watch excerpts often.
Godfather I and II seem to,be the movies beloved by all with XY genes and they i spire endless discussion, so I assume those peeps watch them 50 times.
After having read everyone's responses, I would second the following:
Groundhog Day
Shawshank Redemption & Green Mile: DH is constantly watching those movies and to be honest, if I walk in the room I'll sit down and watch them AGAIN.
Gone with the Wind
Forest Gump
Love Actually
I would also add:
Overboard (an all-time favorite)
Maybe Superman II
Wizard of Oz
I would watch it more if they would play it more:
The Dollmaker (I LOVED LOVED LOVED that movie. Book by Harriet Arnow. Jane Fonda was the star--she was amazing. I was devastated when she had to move to Detroit and leave behind her dream of a little farm in Appalachia, but also inspired by her resilience)
Summer Solstice (The last film Henry Fonda made, with Myrna Loy--the best film testimony to marriage I've ever seen, but it's impossible to get.)

Is one glance at Water Lilies enough? Is one run-through of the Brandenburg Concertos sufficient? Do you pretty much get the gist of The Old Man and the Sea on the first read?
I believe that scholars will one day devote entire careers to exploring the nuanced beauty of Caddyshack.
haha! That's one of my family's favorites for sure, but not for me. If there were a similar movie about Golf Widows, maybe that would be my go-to. Same with Braveheart. It's considered by my DH and kids to be THE B___ family movie, but I never fell under its spell. Too violent.

I couldn't even get through Groundhog Day once.
