    My wonderful Goodwill find

Since I have not had anyone to share this with, I thought I would let you be the first to hear the news.

While looking in a Goodwill store today I had just about finished and was ready to leave when I walked back to a shelf of miscellaneous items. Mainly I was looking for some small glass jars for a project I hope to do. Anyway, there lying on a bottom shelf was a print by my favorite artist - beautifully framed, no broken glass, and a price tag of $1.49!! At first I thought it said $14.99, and I would have expected that because it was so nice, but no - it was $1.49! Edward Hopper's "New York Movie". Framed it measures about 12 X 14, I love it!

That's a great discovery! does your Goodwill have half-price Saturdays like we have here? I'm asking because that's cheap even for half-price day.

I went yesterday and was wearing what I thought was one of my nicer blouses. You guessed it - I found that exact blouse on the rack for the sale price of $3. Another reminder that it's hard to pay retail when you can find the same/similar items for almost nothing.
I did buy some children's paperback books, 6 for $1. Our local Kiwanis club has a collection drive for children's books so I thought I'd start collecting some for that.

That's awesome! So exciting when you get a find like that! Enjoy it!

Actually I made a mistake in the OP. I was so excited to post it that I said Goodwill when actually it was St. Vincent DePaul!

Our Goodwill stores don't have a half-price Saturday that I know of, but they have a different color tag that is 1/2 price everyday. I never seem to be there on a day that coincides with the tag color. Yes, I thought that was a really cheap price for the print and don't know why. I bought a book that cost $2.98, so much more than the print sold for. I asked why the book was that price when it said hardbacks were $1.00 and paperbacks $.50. He said it was a special price because it was a history book or something! Since I wanted it for a gift for someone I bought it - a very nice book. But yeah, my framed Hopper print was indeed a find!

I agree Lainey, VERY hard to pay retail price after shopping at these kinds of stores for so many years! Just doesn't make since. They had racks of things for $.99 - buy one get one! There were Chicos tops and very good brands. I picked up a Laura Ashley sweater and another shirt, but don't recall the brand. Both were in like new condition.

I have found some good deals at thrift stores too. Locally I won’t shop goodwill anymore because they fired the local people who were running it and doing a great job, brought in people from Sacramento and then proceeded to fire all the workers that were disabled. This was when I was still working for the state. I won’t donate to them either.
