    Hygge and minimalism

This is a great article exploring the overlap of minimalism and hygge. I see the overlap for myself as putting people and relationships first, making things comfortable and nourishing.

    Agreed... interesting article.

At the same site I liked another article with more suggestions for hygge in cold-weather months

I believe social customs in Denmark are fairly distinct about extending and receiving hospitality. Hospitality can be superbly harmonious when there is a consensus … but awkward if guests do not conform to the unwritten rules. For example:

Do not start eating until the hostess says "Come and Eat".

Talk about culture and hometown events, but never try to sell anything.
    Do not ask personal questions.
    Do not give embarrassing compliments.
    Do laugh at yourself.

Do not take the last item from any serving platter or bowl. (If there is one cookie left on the serving plate, maybe break it and take half, if you must.)
