Most days I make porridge, made withsteel-cut oats, water/milk and a good pinch of salt. When cooked, served with a wee smidgeon of milk and sprinkled with a little salt. Millions of Scots, over centuries, can’t be wrong!

Lemon curd is addictive. I made three batches for Christmas to give as gifts in pint jars. A little goes a long way but it is good especially in a tiny tart shell or a sliced sponge cake or an angel food slathered with whipped cream.
