EM, That sounds like a wonderful New Year Day! My dad did all slides back in the '60's through the '70's, probably about 10,000 of them. I think my sister is storing them; it would be fun to someday go through all of them and organize/scan them so we can all enjoy them going forward.

My mom took lots of slides. One year she made us each a VCR tape of our lives from the slides which was nice. None of us wanted them or the projector so she disposed of them. With her photo album she had us take the pictures we wanted and then threw the rest away. I told my kids to do the same. The lantern festival sounds nice. We have met many people that are raising their grandchildren. So sad. So glad we will never be faced with that situation.

Frugal eats: we are continuing to eat the ham leftover from Xmas day. Saw a funny quote on the internet: "Eternity is 2 people and a ham."

Cute photos. Is Amy that much bigger or just the perspective? Mandy and Noki are a diverse two. Nice to see them. Thanks.

Yes max is only 5lbs and the other 2 are 8. Noki is 70. We are little dog people but inherited the big guy from my son and drove across the country to get him 5 years ago. He is mellow and not the boss.

Pretty pleased that I figured out how to restring my four cheapo bamboo blinds I got from Big Lots when I moved to New Mexico. The cords had frayed from the intense desert sun but there was a lot of extra cording so I cut out the frayed parts and restrung it through the pulley system. I probably saved a minimum of about $50, probably more, as Big Lots doesn't seem to sell these matchstick and bamboo blinds anymore.

---only drove on the 2nd to drive Sis in law home
--gift exchange was weird, she who insists on doing it was not into it at all
SO, next year we can stop...doing what I want
--lots of food cooked and frozen for later and sent home with her.
--today I am volunteering so no spend.
--returning wine/beer empties collected for the last couple of months
--buying a bottle of wine but, with Christmas gift card.
Very frugal year so far .....lol....
