    Dr. Gary Piccione - obituary

In the 12/30/2018 New York Times obituaries, I noted Dr. Gary Piccione passed at the age of 98. In 1954 he was one of the founding doctors of the North Shore University Hospital at Manhasset, NY, on Long Island. He practiced medicine there for 48 years, and according to the obituary "he did not hesitate to exchange his services for payments such as duck eggs, tomatoes, spinach or a handshake."

They were a remarkable group who had a strong sense of service. Many of the Doctors Without Borders seem to be likeminded.
As Cicero said, “Gratitude is not only the greatest of virtues, but the parent of all the others.”
