What is "masculinity"? Is it necessarily "toxic"? What would "non-toxic masculinity" look like?

Trevor Noah? He’s aggressively non threatening.
Personally I don't think non-toxic masculinity is an oxymoron. One can be masculine without being a mean asshole. I suppose if someone were looking for a quick a simple guide I'd simply suggest that they don't be a dick.
Personally I felt masculine today when I successfully changed out the side mirror on my car. SO needs the car to travel to the various hotels under his management. For a couple of weeks now he's been having to lean into an odd angle in order to make use of the mirror that had been jerry-rigged in place with packing tape and a gatorade bottle lid. Which was probably a safety hazard. So I did what I could to make the car safer for him to drive. I can't think of too many things more masculine than making something a little bit safer for a loved one.
Silly stuff to capture eyeballs, best we can all do is ignore it.
I have embarked on an in-home Jane Campion film festival (mainly streaming from Amazon Prime). I started with Episode 1 of her mini-series Top of the Lake
Campion represents toxic masculinity as a tendency toward aggression and control (especially control of females).
