I've read elsewhere that the committee was really impressed with him being the first person of color to be elected to the highest office in the United States and had high hopes for him, they wanted to waste no time letting the world know how woke they were. And they weren't the only ones, someone nominated him for the award less then two weeks after assuming the office. He had yet to do anything at all.
Every time I've heard someone talk about how special he was, I can't help but think what they really mean is "look at how special I am thinking so."

Dignity: Seeking Respect in Back Row America - Chris Arnade
Esther Stories - Peter Orner
Reading now:
You Think It, I'll Say It - Curtis Sittenfeld
I wonder if Curtis Sittenfeld is still living in St. Louis? We talked about her up a page or two, her prep school novel. I really liked it. I am not read the other prep school novels I’ve lined up but I will get to them eventually.
