The plant is a hand-me-down, which was scrawny when we received it in the dead of winter. But now that the days are getting longer, the plant is thriving on the sun porch. (I moved it into the kitchen/dining room last night for the picture.)
It is about 30 inches in diameter and 24" tall (from the base of the pot).

I'd like to research this plant … especially to learn whether it can be toxic to cats. I would appreciate any help in identifying the Genus and species.
