You know you're a gardener when...

A neighbor posted on our neighborhood Facebook page that he had two bales of hay for the taking in his front yard if anyone wants them. This isn't farmland I live in--it's suburbia, so you don't see these kinds of offers often.

But my heart started racing, and it made me think about how curb pickings don't excite me anymore, unless it's hay or good, dry kindling.

So for me "You know you're a gardener when you're more excited about free hay than free furniture"

How about you? How would you fill in the blank:

you get excited that ladybugs - a completely natural way to eradicate common garden pests such as aphids - go on sale. Rob

When Spring finally arrives, all you want is to be outside in the sunshine digging in the dirt.

...you delight in the piles of leaf mold—free stuff! — available to citizens here in my city. Also the free wood chips for mulching makes me continually happy. Also the unmetered water supply here at my house allows me to water everything in my garden with no concern as to cost.

These items are not even on the radar of 95% of the people in my neighborhood.

When you are house hunting and a dear friend says, "you without a garden won't happen". I took her advice and love my house and garden.
    Cute thread!

You have the neighbors that work in hotels bring by coffee grounds for you and your yard. Rob

You come in from a few hours of yard/garden work, and are glowing and smiling so much, that your spouse says "you look like a kid on Christmas Day!".

When you come in from "working" outdoors and discover it's hours later than you thought.
My therapist told me the way to achieve true inner peace is to finish what I start. So far today, I have finished two bags of M&Ms and a chocolate cake. I feel better already!

You plant spinach, beets, and kale the day before it snows (just did that).
