    I didn't see a crisis......

Now, you may wish to take this statement with a huge grain of salt, as I am about to post about Yuma, Arizona, which is a very spread out and sprawling place like most Sunbelt cities and towns are. I spent a few hours there on Tuesday, May 14th, passing around various places in town on the shuttle down to the border. \

I saw no marauding bans of Central Americans looting and pillaging or otherwise. I did however speak to a woman on the shuttle on the way down who says she has friends who caught migrants lurking on their property which I find scary if it's true. I did also speak to a few other locals who say that there are migrants in town but there's no crisis.

As for Algodones, I saw nothing different then usual other than one thing - this time there was a huge range of fake goods out of the street for sale, something I have never seen there before. Fake Rolexes, Ray Bans, ladie's MK and Coach purses and wallets, all kinds of fakes. This was not the case when I used to visit. As to migrants, none obviously visible and none waiting outside the US port of entry as in Nogales. Rob

I totally believe it. I never believed the crisis hype.

I'd think if there were, the Mexican military and police forces would discourage the practice pretty quickly.

I believe the current average is somewhat over 100,000 people crossing our southwest border seeking asylum each month. That seems like a crisis to me.

So I just researched and it appears what is happening now is a all time low. From the 1980’s -2000 up to a million migrants a year crossed the border. Why wasn’t that a crisis? It’s 10k a month not 100k.

What defines a "crisis" in this context?

How many immigrants per year does the USA wish to accept? How many can we accept? How many do we need to accept?

What programs do we need to help with the success of immigrants?

    Etc.

Well that's odd. I wonder why the Border Patrol would report otherwise? https://www.cbp.gov/newsroom/stats/sw-border-migration

Hmm - looking at the detailed data in that link, it looks like the inadmissable rate has dropped from ~1/5 to 1/10.

    Wonder what that means?
