Last two hours on this 40 today! Thanks to all of you for your words of encouragement. They really do mean a lot.

I took all the books in my bookcase except for 10 to the thrift store.

    Congratulations, EJ!
TT: Wow, are those all the physical books you own now?

Wow indeed. I don't think I can do this. I have a lot of books on things like house repair and farming and knitting--like a big reference library. I can always find a project to work on or an answer to a question. Do you get your information from the Internet, then? What if you want to reread something for pleasure--I do that, too. That's all my fiction (I teach literature). So how would that work, I wonder, to get rid of the novels that are really dear to me and opened my mind to new insights and experiences?

It sounds great but I can't see how I would do this.

Tybee: Same here. I have my little reference library (although I certainly use the internet as a reference tool). I also have books that are "old friends," and I can't quite let go of those.

Yes those are all of my physical books. I don’t read books twice. I can use the internet if I need information. I don’t buy physical books anymore but read them on my phone. Before we moved we got rid of 40 boxes of books. My husband probably has 100 in his office.
