    Any other Barry Manilow fans?

I tell you what, about a month ago I started getting into Barry Manilow. Some damn good tunes!

I used to have such an aversion to Manilow that I once got out of a bathtub to shut him off. I've mellowed over the years, but I still don't see the appeal.

Without looking anything up, I have in the back my mind that he mightíve written some music thatís OK but those are not the ones that heís known for performing.

It's nice to see Ultralight appreciating 70s music--come on!

Barry Manilow was definitely never taken that seriously, but he certainly wrote a lot of hits. I was never a huge fan, but he's OK. I'm more British Invasion, Simon and Garfunkel and Hippie Folk.

But I'll give you I Made it Through the Rain.

When I was in high school my sister went with some friends to see a new sensation named Bette Midler. She liked Bette, but was even more captivated when her music director played a few songs during Bette's mid-show break. She thought he was fantastic--an unknown named Barry Manilow.

She immediately bought his first album, which had just come out. I kind of liked it, but was never tempted to buy anything of his myself.

We all know a Manilow song.... “ you deserve a break today at...”

    Bad song? You pick.

I’ve always liked him, but I’ve never had the usual taste.

I also kept liking folk after it wasn’t popular. I like Ed Gerhard and Morricone, and always have. Also Gilbert and Sullivan and Flanders and Swann. Shadowfax, and ....
